- There was one notable 64-bit holdout: Microsoft Office. Although Microsoft ported the Windows version of its Office software to 64-bit architecture long ago, Office for Mac remained 32-bit (Figure B).
- OpenOffice.org finally has a native version for Mac, which is why it doesn't need to run the X11 server (only available for Mac OS X Intel for now). Although OpenOffice.org doesn't automatically run the guide that allows you to select the kind of document you want, you can access the different applications from the corresponding menu bar: Text.
- Well, Open Office appears to be free once more. Not that it was ever expensive, unless ten dollars would break your budget. As for the side bar being 'innovative,' I think that claim is a bit much. MS Office had a side bar for years but in the latest versions folded it back into the tool bar, or ribbon as it's called now.
